Klondike is one of the best-known Solitaire / Patience card games out there. With over 500 variations of Solitaire, it can be easy to get lost in all the different rules of each Solitaire variation. For that reason, we will give you all the info you need about the most popular variant: Classic Klondike Solitaire. How to play Solitaire
The aim of the game is to organize the cards from the waste pile and the field into four separate foundation piles from ace to king.
Cards that are faced up and showing may be moved. To place a card it must be one less in rank and the opposite colour. For example, if it was a 9 of diamonds (red) you could put an 8 of spades (blue) onto it.
Stacks of cards may be moved from one column (in the field) to another as long as they maintain the same order (highest to lowest alternating colours).
If you get an empty column you can start a new column with a king (or a stack of cards that starts with a king).
Rank and points, high to low:
When you place a card from the field into one of the four foundation piles you will receive that card’s points. You will lose -20 points when you shuffle the waste pile. When you place a card from the waste pile into one of the foundation piles you will receive the card’s points and +100 points. When you have turned a card over in the field you will receive +100 points.
